What methods do we use?
- To help both you and your dog we will create a relaxing environment , often through Games based learning or with sensory activities, such as Shaping excersises, Paws Up on various different surfaces, snuffling for tit bits amongst different items of different texture or noise or something called Freework (pioneered by Sarah Fisher) or by Touch techniques or a combination of all of them so that learning is able to take place and over time grow.
- No one dog is the same, so we have to assess you and your dog to establish the best approach.
- We coach you in being aware of the most suitable harness for your dog, how to use a leash, how to use a long line when and where to use one. How to handle a dog with a leash and harness in a way that a dog feels comfortable.
- We will coach you in how to 'mark' a behaviour that you want, how to reward the behaviour, we will coach you in the 'games' to encourage learning for recall, focusing on you, leash walking.
Games Learning
Games based learning can be used for any exercise you wish to have for you and your dog.
Helps to build all core exercises:
- Recall
- Loose lead walking
- Sit, Stay, Down
- Agility fun
- Scent work
- Dog Trials
Plus much more
- Games to build Vet visits or Groomers to be stress free.
- Games to allow tolerance to noises and sudden movement.
- Games to help build confidence around cars and travel.
- Games to help build confidence around being seperated.
We just break the exercise down into the core elements in a fun way like a game.
Gentle, fun using positive reinforcement . :)
Shaping
Shaping is the process of building a particular behavior gradually using a series of small steps to achieve the final behavior.
A gentle and successful way to coach dogs to think their way to the desired behaviour or position.
Excellent method of coaching to exercise the dog's brain and is great for building their confidence.
Paws Up
In Parkour or Paws Up, dogs have lots of fun interacting with a wide variety of different obstacles. Almost any object can be used as long as it is safe. Dogs enjoy climbing, balancing, crawling and jumping as they navigate their way through the surrounding environment. Great for building confidence.
Freework
Free Work is a simple low impact activity that can be rewarding for both you and your dog.Free Work helps to reduce stress, improve posture and balance, and increase the range of natural movement patterns. Free Work also helps to engage the seeking system, meet a dog's natural desire to be curious, and supports the dog's internal environment by helping them to release body tension, reset, and relax.
